Prodigal Son

Prodigal Son – Robert Timothy Wilkins

Poor boy with all he had started down that road
Started down that road
He took all he had and started down the road
Going out in this world, whereabout Lord only knows
And that'll be the way I’ll get along

Well poor boy lost all he had, famine came in to land
Lord famine came in to land
Lost all he had when a famine came in the land
Said, "I believe I'll go and work for a decent man"
And that'll be the way I'll get along

Break

Well, the man said, "I'll give you a job, boy you’ll feed my swine
He said boy you’ll feed my swine
I'll give you a job boy you’ll feed my swine”
Now the Boy stood there and hung his head and cried
And that’s no way to get along

I believe I'll ride, said believe I'll go back home
Yeah believe I'll go back home
Believe I'll ride, believe I'll go back home
Down the road the boy began to go
And that's the way for us to get along

Break

Well, father said, "Look see my son, coming home to me
Coming home to me"
Father ran and fell down on his knees
Then he sang and he prayed, Lord have mercy on me
Have mercy Lord, hmm hmm on me

Well the poor boy just stood there, hung his head and cried
Hung his head and cried
The boy stood and hung his head and he cried
He said, "Father won’t you look on me as a child?"
Look on me, hmm hmm as your child….

Well father stood, kissed his son, called the family round
He killed the fatted calf
He killed that calf and called the family round
Said my son was lost but now look he is found
And that's the way for us to get along

He said that's the way for us to get along
That's the way for us to get along (one for Jesus)
